Out & About: Magnificat Exhibition in Delaware, Ohio

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 45 W. Winter Street in Delaware, Ohio, is marking the first anniversary of its Art in the Sanctuary program with a special exhibition for the Season of Advent: Magnificat:“My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord.” The show features artworks of the Virgin Mary in a variety of styles from around the world. Among the international artists in this Christmas exhibition are Maurice Denis from France, Josef Eberz from Germany, Saincilus Ismael from Haiti, Kaoru Kawano from Japan, Ben Macala from South Africa, Anatoly Poutiline from Russia, Martin Rigo from Spain, and Marianna Wisnios from Poland. Also on display are a reverse glass icon from Romania, a leather painting from Ethiopia, a lacquered panel from Vietnam, and an embroidered textile piece from the Kuna people of Panama. Magnificat:“My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord” runs from November 27 until January 8.
