St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 45 W. Winter Street, Delaware, Ohio, is holding an exhibition of sacred art for the Lenten season as part of its Art in the Sanctuary program. The show, called The Stations of the Cross, presents works of art about the Passion of Christ, following the traditional devotional practice of remembering fourteen events of Good Friday, as Jesus carried his cross to Calvary. There will also be a fifteenth image of the Resurrection. Each Station of the Cross is represented by the work of a different American or international artist from the Sacred Art Pilgrim Collection. There are paintings, drawings, and prints by Frank Humphrey Allen, Rudolph V. Bostic, Frank Brangwyn, Jean Charlot, Wiktoria Gorynska, Kjeld Hansen, Pat M. Mallinson, Ademola Olugebefola, Georges Rouault, Johnny Salas, Mary van Blarcom, Sadao Watanabe, two Ohio artists, Beni E. Kosh and William Schickel, and an unknown Ethiopian parchment painter. The exhibition runs from March 9 until April 24. Visitors are welcome to view the art or spend time in quiet reflection on Fridays throughout Lent from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Guided tours will be given at 12:00 p.m. on alternate Sundays, beginning March 13, following the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Booklets for meditating on the Stations of the Cross will also be available. The church can be opened for groups or individuals by special arrangement.
