Pictures in Focus: Three Studies of Southern Church Life by Chris Clark

Continuing this month's theme of African-American art, I've just uploaded images of three new paintings in the Sacred Art Pilgrim Collection by Alabama Artist Chris Clark on to his profile page in the Sacred Artists section. They depict nostalgic scenes of church life in the American South. Frieze-like lines of worshippers head off to church in their Sunday best in one of Clark's hallmark paintings on quilted cotton and in a acrylic on wood panel painting. (Note the convoy of angelic escorts in the skies above!) A second wood panel painting shows a church congregation, gathering at the river for a traditional baptismal service. (John Kohan)
