I have a few more pieces of angel art to bring on-line in October. French Printmaker Albert Decaris created this week's offering, now on view in the gallery of his profile page in the Sacred Artists section. Traditional images of the heavenly host often present them as beautiful, androgynous creatures. There is no question about the gender of this exquisite Art Deco angel in flowing dress and ruffled collar. As she flies onto the scene, carrying a floral offering, she certainly won't have to greet anyone with the words "Fear not!" Decaris has created a celestial being who is a bearer of hope and symbol of peace. She soars about the devastation of war-ravaged Europe, just as the sun breaks through storm clouds and swirling smoke. Take a closer look at the fine linework in the wing feathers and the flower petals, revealing the hand of a master engraver. (John Kohan)
